Carol Helen Beule, an accredited AOS judge, an Emmy Award-winning costume designer, and a renowned ceramic artisan specializing in custom presentation pots for the endemic Japanese orchid Neofinetia falcata will discuss growing and flowering Neofinetia falcata. After moving to Southern California, she discovered that Neofinetia falcata flourished outdoors in the local climate. Her inability to find traditional, high-quality pots for her collection inspired her to begin crafting her own specialized ceramic presentation pots under her brand Nichi Bachi by Beule.
As a fully accredited AOS judge and the 1st Vice President of the Orchid Society of Southern California, Beule actively educates the orchid community. She frequently lectures at regional orchid societies and international events like the Fuukiran Society of America. Her signature presentation, “The Essence of Japan and Fuukiran: A Country of Gardeners, Perfectionists and Tradition,” explores the deep historical relationship between Japanese culture and the Wind Orchid. Additionally, she has authored a comprehensive three-part series for Orchids magazine detailing her journey from designing costumes to crafting clay .
